I Have Dreams

I Have Dreams were a five-piece emo/screamo band from Tallahassee, Florida that lasted for about six months between 1998 and 1999. They were formed by members of another band called New Ethic, who ended in 1998 after one of its guitarist, Daniel, died. I Have Dreams were essentially both a response and a tribute to his passing. They only ever recorded a five-song EP, Three Days 'til Christmas, which is incredible. They mesh very clean, melodic guitar riffs and vocals with very dissonant sounds and brash screaming. As generic-sounding as that description, an actual listen is required to know what I mean. They came up with five great songs, and production quality is far from a hindrance here. Fans of I Hate Myself, You And I, and bands like that would definitely be interesting in giving this a try. I Have Dreams played two reunion shows in 2001, but have been completely inactive since than. Enjoy.

1. Three Days 'til Christmas
2. Countless Rooftops
3. In Good Hands
4. I Don't Imagine You And I Anymore
5. Thank You So Much For Having The Courage To Help A Friend Change His Life For The Better

  2. They were originally called New Ethic. They released a 3 song demo tape and shortly after a member died. The band then formed as I have dreams and made a 5 song demo for that friend. they later formed as New american saint or something like that after I have dreams.

  4. Daniel Chapman was the original guitarist from New Ethic. I skated with him a few times in the late 90's. RIP Daniel. ANKOAS is a good listen. Went to several of their shows as well as the reunion show for I Have Dreams in '01. Clayton was the drummer for Of Montreal, last I checked.

  7. The bass player for New Ethic, I Have Dreams, and ANKOAS was Ben Seals, and he unfortunately also passed away in 2021. I knew all these dudes. The whole story is really sad, but they left us some great hardcore/screaming music. On a positive note, Clayton has been the drummer for Of Montreal for years now. RIP Daniel Chapman and Ben Seals.
